ChaCha Ching?

In an article written by Michael Calore of Wired, there is a description of debit card payments to the new casual work force who would be part of the ChaCha Search Engine.

First, if you haven’t read/heard about ChaCha, give it a shot. I think you’ll find it either amazing or annoying. After introducing and subsequently polling people I know regarding the effectiveness of human-assisted guided search (think Disney and making reservations for a restaurant at Epcot), the results were split evenly (6 to 6).

Second, we are fully aware that ChaCha is in Alpha mode, but it’s fun to see how your results vary based on time of day, typos versus language differences, etc…

Give it a shot and give them feedback. Remember: A system is only as good as the input it receives.

Enjoy your weekend.

A short post today. There is a great article on Steve Wozniak buried in the Technology section of CNN.com.

.mobi is coming…

In today’s market, it’s difficult to find a new medium (or an old, refurbished one in this case) that creates as much buzz around the domain world as .mobi

It’s important to stay in touch with what it means to our customers, but it’s more important for our customers to realize what it is, how it works and what they should do if they’re so inclined to suddenly up and repurpose their site for mobile devices with a cool domain to boot.

Here are a few facts:

  • .mobi is a new, top-level domain that can be registered by the general public starting on 26th, September.
  • the mobile initiative is incredibly important to your business if you intend to communicate with a generation of highly accessible and geek-friendly devices.
  • The following companies have shown their support of .mobi:
      • Ericsson, GSM Association, Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung, Syniverse, T-mobile, Telefonica, TIM and Vodafone (just to name a few).
  • There are currently four times the number of mobile phones than there are PCs in the world.
  • If you’re standards-crazy, then you should already be aware of the W3C Mobile Initiative.

Take some time to check out a few brand names invited to pre-register for the .mobi tld.

Welcome

I appreciate your interest in Visual Activity LLC.

Our company has been through a transformation in the past month from Aeropub Interactive to the new Visual Activity LLC.

During this incredibly busy time, we’ve been able to work with clients and each other on a journey that allowed the team to experience first-hand the process by which we serve our customers.

Aside from a couple of sleepless nights, I’m very proud to see the rebranding of an entire organization from the ground up completed without anything else having to suffer.

To those of you who worked with us under the Aeropub moniker: welcome home. We’d love to show you the same quality and care on a new or updated project. Please pass the word to let others know about our change.

Our culture and our attitude is deeper and more committed than ever before, and I look forward to the new chapters we’ll write with our clients.

Thank you for your interest, and please let us know how we can help you become visually active.
