jaxtr

Here’s a funny thing about the Web: If you have an idea, someone beat you to it. Today, let’s take a look at jaxtr. No, we don’t claim that we thought of this first, but a client of ours proposed something very similar to jaxtr approximately two months ago. The problem is, jaxtr was a fully-funded, popular and hot topic already. To us, it’s just another great utility to cross-breed marketing with social networking. Go ahead, give us a ring!

City and State, please

“Hi, my name is Google and I’ll be your benevolent search overlord today. How may I assist you?”

I’ve been playing around with Google’s voice (411) local search for a couple of days now, and I see a great deal of potential for both advertising opportunities and ease of use. It’s not that voice-recognition software platforms are all that new, it’s just that they don’t all connect to the benevolent Web overlord known as Google.

With a couple of Massachusetts-based companies already setting a rather high bar for the software platform, Google will more than likely look into which company it wants to buy that matches their plan.

Regardless, Google owns this if it wants. The question is, would they want to?

Here’s a different approach: Google creates/buys/assimilates a perfect local search utility and then leases it to companies like Verizon, etc…

Just for fun

Sometimes when you’re waiting for a process to complete or a machine to go through the startup process, you use another machine to waste time.

We got a kick reading through this article on Wired.com showcasing the best of the lame in technology mascots.

Enjoy.

Google Presentations

The next obvious add-on to their already slick (if not lightly-featured) Doc and Spreadsheet family would be, let’s say… Presentations. Well, after acquiring Tonic Systems, Google is, in our opinion, about to launch a very key piece of their suite.

If this online app has at least 2/3rds the functionality of your current favorite presentation software, it will no doubt give Google a formidable suite. Not only that, but you can’t beat the price.

Virginia…

We’re speechless and our hearts and prayers go out to both family members and the departed for today’s atrocities at Virginia Tech.
